I'm still at a loss for a subject to write about. I can only say that I wish basketballs were smaller. I can't decide if I've had writer's block or if I'm just preoccupied with the psychosis that permeates my job in working with the mentally ill. This weekend, my office door was sprayed with ketchup and a sweet note was left and signed by a client. Sigh.
This job, more than any other, has really opened my eyes to just how rampant and unchecked mental illness is these days. And of course there's the magical combination of recreational drugs AND mental illness AND antidepressants that makes things even more unpredictable. I do still love the Zoloft Egg, and here's a great little take off on that ad. BUSH WAITS FOR CONCORDE, REMAINS STUCK IN U.K. --Insists on riding that "funny plane".-- Oh, if only it would happen! But then, as my BF pointed out, Cheney would be Prez. In my youth, I had a multitude of crushes on my straight guy friends. They were all pretty cool about it, and I guess in this new world of "metrosexuals", some even like the attention, though they are quick to point out that it's a "lost cause", because they are lovers of boobies. And that's fine. I think it's simply natural for gay men, as long as you don't cross the line, to find a straight guy attractive. Heck, even straight guys should know good looking guys when they see them, right? And this advice should definitely be heeded in this place. Home Depot is THE place for guy-watching it seems. It is chock full of buffed, tattooed, pierced, solid, handy men. Even the employees, although usually of the just-outta-high-school variety, are pretty studly. Occasionally, you'll be looking at someone and they catch you. But often I get the feeling from some, even when they seem completely straight, that they enjoy the attention. And can we talk about the home improvement shows that are on these days? There is a token homo or Abercrombie model in almost every one!
I have a serious crush on John Mayer. Although it kills me to think he was 6 years old in 1983, when I was 16. And I seriously need to learn to play guitar. Ever since I stopped trying hard to find every little meaning in my life, it's been fine. I've been cool. Thanks, I feel better!
I've been accepted into my city's Police Department Citizen Patrol program. I get my badge and uniform next week, but no gun- only mace. Pity. This should be interesting! "Stop, or I'll freeze! I mean...freeze, hands over your head!" Mission Unaccomplished!
It is maddening to open up CNN.com every morning to see the same headline over and over; another terrorist bombing that's killed more people in Iraq. Is this what the people who supported and still support the war wanted or expected? The president says nothing except "we are not leaving". What kind of leadership is this? WHY DIDN'T THE PRETZEL WIN THAT DAY?! Then I see that the government is hopping mad about seniors who are trying to buy their prescription drugs from Canada. So mad that they are trying to tell us the drugs are "dangerous". It is the norm for this administration to make us fearful of EVERYTHING. Fear marriage being "destroyed", fear pornography, fear Canada. Is there a light at the end of this horrible 4 year tunnel? It is amazing to me that ANYBODY supports this man and his policies. Not the most flattering picture, but hey, I have an iSight!

Seann William Scott/Andy Roddick. I was disappointed with Andy on SNL. I guess because there was no shirtless gladiator sketch. I still love him though, but Seann a little more.
Where I live! For those who don't know, I live in Laguna Beach, California. The big white square right in the middle is my apartment building. You can just see the ocean in the corner.
A beautiful city, it was once considered an "artists village", but like most coastal cities, the combination of tourism and money has changed it a bit. Quaint cottages have been replaced by concrete and steel mansions, etc. But we still have a diverse and artistic community, and you can still get that "small town" feel, sipping your morning coffee with the other locals at the corner newstand. Come visit anytime, just bring lots of quarters for parking! If you enjoy guys in fur pants, Burning Man, and great writing from open-minded guys, check this out (click on pic):
A must-read is straight-but-not-narrow Halcyon's adventure in gay porn. |
